I love the handprint wreaths! I do them with charges for different seasons, using different colors of paper for their hands that go with the season. I get stickers or cut out pictures that go with the season and let them decorate their wreaths, too! It's fun to pull out old ones and see how their hands have grown. I usually cut out the center of a paper plate and use the outer rim of it for a back.
This year I tried something new with my charges. The week before Thanksgiving we talked a lot about the various people we know around town (the waitstaff at our favorite local diner, the lady at the bank who always remembers favorite lollipop flavors, etc) that we appreciate. I helped the children (ages 2,2, and 4) make Thank You cards and we delivered them the week of Thanksgiving. Each week before Christmas, we are making different kinds of cookies or treats. We keep a few, then package up the rest to take to people...to the office staff at our church, left some for the cleaning woman, etc.
